How to Use Provigil

Take Provigil exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider.

– Do not change your dose or the time you take Provigil without consulting your healthcare provider.
– Provigil can be taken with or without food.
– Avoid alcohol while taking Provigil because the effects of combining Provigil with alcohol have not been adequately studied.

Indication

What is Provigil?

Provigil (modafinil) is a prescription medication indicated to improve wakefulness in adults with excessive sleepiness associated with:

– Narcolepsy
– Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)
– Shift work disorder (SWD)

In patients with obstructive sleep apnea, Provigil treats excessive sleepiness but does not treat the underlying airway obstruction. Patients should continue any treatment prescribed for the underlying condition, such as CPAP, when appropriate.

Provigil is not approved for pediatric patients. It is not approved solely for enhancing energy, concentration, productivity, or cognitive performance in otherwise healthy individuals.
